Delinquency petition; referral to court service unit. Permits a court, upon request of the child with consent of the attorney for the Commonwealth, to refer a delinquency petition to the court service unit for an informal proceeding. The bill requires that the petition and all records pertaining to such delinquency charge be expunged. This bill is a recommendation of the Virginia Commission on Youth.
A BILL to amend and reenact ยง 16.1-306 of the Code of Virginia and to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 8 of Chapter 11 of Title 16.1 a section numbered 16.1-277.3, relating to delinquency petition; referral to court service unit.
