Charter; City of Chesapeake. Amends the charter for the City of Chesapeake to clarify the dates for (i) the election and terms of members of council and the mayor, (ii) when a sitting council member must resign when running for mayor, and (iii) the election of a successor in the event of a vacancy in office. This bill is identical to HB 1645.
An Act to amend and reenact ยงยง 3.02, as amended, and 3.03:1 of Chapter 717 of the Acts of Assembly of 1980, which provided a charter for the City of Chesapeake, relating to elections; filling vacancies.
