Abstract

Department of Energy; Offshore Wind Industry Workforce Program and Fund. Directs the Division of Offshore Wind of the Department of Energy to establish the Offshore Wind Industry Workforce Program (the Program) by January 1, 2026, and administer the Program, which makes expenditures for purposes of supporting workforce training related to offshore wind development at public institutions of higher education, private institutions of higher education, vocational-technical education institutions, and regional workforce training centers. The bill also establishes the Offshore Wind Industry Workforce Fund to fund the Program and requires Program participants to submit an annual report of their progress. The provisions of the bill expire on January 1, 2028.

A BILL to amend and reenact § 45.2-1802 of the Code of Virginia and to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 18 of Title 45.2 an article numbered 3, consisting of sections numbered 45.2-1814 and 45.2-1815, relating to Department of Energy; Offshore Wind Industry Workforce Program and Fund.
