Abstract

Feasibility, expense, and implementationof statewide coverage of public defender offices; study. Directsthe Virginia Indigent Defense Commission (the Commission) to establish a work group to study the feasibility, cost, and implementation ofstatewide coverage of public defender offices. The bill directs theCommission to report its findings and recommendations to the chairmenof the Virginia State Crime Commission, the House Committee for Courtsof Justice, the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, the House Committeeon Appropriations, and the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriationsby November 1, 2022.
