Firearms; control of firearms by localities, concealed handgun permit exception.

Abstract

Control of firearms by localities; concealedhandgun permit exception. Provides that any local ordinance thatprohibits the possession or carrying of firearms, ammunition, orcomponents or any combination thereof in (i) any building, or partthereof, owned or used by such locality for governmental purposes;(ii) any public park owned or operated by the locality; (iii) anyrecreation or community center facility; or (iv) any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, or public right-of-way or any other placeof whatever nature that is open to the public and is being used by or is adjacent to a permitted event or an event that would otherwiserequire a permit shall not apply to any person who holds a validVirginia permit to carry a concealed handgun.
