Abstract

Uniform Statewide Building Code; smoke detectorsrequired in new residential dwellings. Requires battery operatedor AC powered smoke alarm devices to be installed in all new residentialdwellings. The bill requires battery operated smoke alarm devicesto be equipped with a battery capable of lasting at least 10 years.The location and installation of the smoke alarms shall be determinedby the Building Code. The owner of such residential dwelling shallbe responsible for the maintenance of the smoke alarm device.
