Sales tax; Historic Triangle regional tax, dedication of funds.

Abstract

Sales tax; Historic Triangle regional tax; dedication of funds. Requires the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County to appropriate annual amounts to entities promoting tourism and recreation in the Historic Triangle. Under current law, such localities receive state funds from the imposition of an extra one percent sales tax in the Historic Triangle. The bill establishes the Williamsburg Tourism Council (the Council) as an advisory board in the legislative branch of state government and replaces the Chief Executive Officer of the Virginia Tourism Alliance on the Council with the Chair of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce.
