Transportation safety funding; surplus in proposed budget to include.

Abstract

Transportation safety funding. Providesthat for any year in which there is a surplus, the Governor shallinclude in his proposed budget an appropriation of 10 percent ofsuch surplus for the Transportation Safety Fund, created by the bill,for the purpose of funding projects that would improve transportation safety, implement safe system approach designs, improve high accidentrisk areas, and create safer options for pedestrians and bicyclists.The bill directs the Secretary of Transportation to establish a processfor soliciting, reviewing, and selecting project submissions by localgoverning bodies.
