Secretary of Health and Human Resources; wholesale prescription drug importation program. Directs the Secretaryof Health and Human Resources (the Secretary) to establish a wholesaleprescription drug importation program that complies with the requirementsof federal law and to report annually by October 1 to the Governorand the Chairmen of the House Committees on Appropriations and Health,Welfare and Institutions and the Senate Committees on Finance andAppropriations and Education and Health on the wholesale prescriptiondrug importation program. The bill also requires the Secretary to(i) convene a workgroup composed of relevant stakeholders to developa plan for implementation of the wholesale prescription drug importationprogram and report the plan to the Governor and the Chairmen of theHouse Committees on Appropriations and Health, Welfare and Institutions and the Senate Committees on Finance and Appropriations and Educationand Health by December 1, 2022, and (ii) seek such federal approvals,waivers, exemptions, or agreements as may be necessary to enableall covered entities enrolled in or eligible for the federal 340BDrug Pricing Program to participate in the wholesale prescriptiondrug importation program to the greatest extent possible withoutjeopardizing their eligibility for the 340B Drug Pricing Programby July 1, 2023.
