Firearms; control by localities in local government buildings and parks.

Abstract

Control of firearms by localities; local governmentbuildings and parks. Authorizes a locality to adopt an ordinanceprohibiting firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereofin any building owned or used by such locality for governmental purposesand in public parks owned by the locality. The bill requires suchordinance to include a provision for security measures designed toreasonably prevent unauthorized access of such buildings or parksby a person with a firearm, ammunition, or components or combinationthereof. The bill requires a locality to post notice of any such prohibitionat all entrances of buildings used for governmental purposes and atthe main entrances to public parks owned by this locality. This billwas incorporated into SB 35.
