Menhaden; adjusts the annual total allowable landings.

Abstract

Menhaden; total landings. Adjusts the annualtotal allowable landings for menhaden downward from 168,937.75 metrictons to 168,213.16 metric tons and provides that any portion of thecoast-wide total allowable catch that is relinquished by a statethat is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission(the Commission) shall be redistributed to Virginia and other states according to the Commission's allocation guidelines. The bill adjuststhe annual harvest cap for the purse seine fishery for Atlantic menhadenin the Chesapeake Bay downward from 87,216 metric tons to 51,000metric tons. The bill also removes a provision that applies the amountby which certain actual Chesapeake Bay harvests fall below the harvestcap as a credit to the following year.
