Short-term rentals; regulation by locality.

Abstract

Regulation of short-term rentals. Requiresany ordinance adopted by the governing body of any locality relatingto regulation of short-term rentals to comply with various provisionsrelated to the short-term rental of property, including limits on(i) the total number of nights permitted for short-term rental onthe short-term rental operator's property and (ii) the number ofshort-term rental properties owned by any one person or entity. Thebill also requires such ordinance to comply with various Code ofVirginia provisions related to zoning enforcement, the Uniform StatewideBuilding Code (ยง 36-97 et seq.), real estate licensing, common interest communities, and covered entities otherwise regulated by localities.
