Firearms; control in local government buildings, waiver of sovereign immunity.

Abstract

Control of firearms in local government buildings;waiver of sovereign immunity. Provides that any locality thatadopts an ordinance or policy that generally prohibits firearms,ammunition, or components or combination thereof in any buildingowned or used by such locality for governmental purposes shall waiveits sovereign immunity protection with regard to any civil claimfor damages brought by an individual who claims his injuries arethe result, at least in part, of such ordinance or policy. In suchinstance, a locality will be subject to an ordinary negligence standardfor its invitees.
