Abstract

A BILL TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY AMENDING SECTION 2-19-10, RELATING TO JUDICIAL MERIT SELECTION COMMISSION, APPOINTMENT, QUALIFICATIONS, AND TERMS, SO AS TO DELETE PROCEDURES TO REVIEW THE QUALIFICATIONS OF RETIRED JUDGES FOR CONTINUED JUDICIAL SERVICE; AND BY AMENDING SECTION 2-19-100, RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY OF RETIRED JUDGES FOR APPOINTMENT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A RETIRED JUSTICE OR JUDGE IS PROHIBITED FROM ENGAGING IN CONTINUED JUDICIAL SERVICE FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT.
