Coal combustion residuals

Abstract

A BILL TO AMEND ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 27, TITLE 58 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR ELECTRIC UTILITIES AND ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES, BY ADDING SECTION 58-27-260, TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SHALL CHARGE A SURCHARGE OF THIRTY DOLLARS PER TON ON ANY COAL COMBUSTION RESIDUALS TRANSFERRED TO A LANDFILL IN A COUNTY WITH A POPULATION OF FEWER THAN NINETEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE COLLECTION, RETENTION, AND EXPENDITURE OF THIS SURCHARGE.
