Abstract

A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 57-3-610, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY NAMING A HIGHWAY FACILITY IN HONOR OF AN INDIVIDUAL, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY MAY NOT NAME A BUILDING, HIGHWAY FACILITY, OR CERTAIN TRACTS OF LAND AFTER CERTAIN ELECTED STATE OR LOCAL OFFICIALS, AND TO PROVIDE THAT WHEN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY HONORS AN INDIVIDUAL PURSUANT TO THIS PROVISION, IT SHALL BE FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FIVE YEARS UNLESS THE PERIOD IS EXTENDED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
