Relating to community-based programs for reducing wildfire risk; declaring an emergency.

Abstract

Requires State Forestry Department to study community-based programs for reducing wildfire risk. Directs department to submit findings to interim committees of Legislative Assembly related to natural resources no later than September 15, 2024.] Establishes policy of State of Oregon related to reducing number and intensity of wildfires. Instructs State Fire Marshal to establish grant and incentive program for reducing wildfire risk. Instructs State Fire Marshal to establish neighborhood protection cooperative program. Instructs State Fire Marshal to expand online presence of Department of State Fire Marshal in specified manner. Instructs State Fire Marshal to develop 20-year strategic plan that prioritizes fire resiliency and building fire-adapted communities. Instructs State Fire Marshal to establish interagency data collection system related to reducing wildfire risk. Instructs State Fire Marshal to biannually report on policy, grant and incentive program, neighborhood protection cooperative program and expanded online presence. Appropriates moneys to State Fire Marshal for deposit in Community Risk Reduction Fund for purposes related to grant and incentive program. Declares emergency, effective on passage.
