Relating to truancy; declaring an emergency.

Abstract

Restores penalty for compulsory school attendance violation. Punishes by maximum $2,000 fine.] Establishes Task Force on School Attendance to study school attendance in Oregon, including chronic absenteeism and truancy, frequency and reasons for truancy, differences in truancy among demographics and any other issues related to school attendance. Directs task force to submit report to interim committee of Legislative Assembly no later than September 15, 2024. Sunsets January 2, 2025. Declares emergency, effective on passage.
