911 Service Reimbursement

Abstract

Amends the Emergency Telephone Systems Act. Provides that if a public safety agency, public agency, qualified governmental entity, or Emergency Telephone System Board submits an affidavit to the Illinois Commerce Commission stating the amount of expenses for services that the responding agency has incurred because an employee or designee of a public safety agency was required to physically transfer 9-1-1 calls at the private branch exchange due to a failure by a system provider's trunk line, the Commission shall immediately reimburse the responding agency in the amount stated in the affidavit or $1,000.00, whichever is less. Provides that if there are expenses requested greater than the amount the Commission immediately reimbursed, then the Commission shall provide full reimbursement to the responding agency within 90 days of receipt of an affidavit requesting the additional reimbursement. Effective immediately.
