Intellectual Disabilities Card

Abstract

Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Provides that, beginning 6 months after the effective date of the amendatory Act, upon the request of a person diagnosed with an intellectual disability or a developmental disability or the guardian or caregiver of the person, the Department shall issue a certification card denoting that the person has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability or a developmental disability. Provides that the certification card and the person's driver's license may be presented to law enforcement officers as necessary. Requires the Department to establish by rule the proof required to be produced by a person diagnosed with an intellectual disability or a developmental disability who requests a certification card and permits the Department to collect a reasonable fee for the issuance of the certification card as determined by the Department. Effective immediately.
