Ems-Coroner Trauma Fund

Abstract

Amends the State Finance Act and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act. Creates the Coroner Trauma Fund, a special fund in the State Treasury. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall distribute 97.5% of the moneys deposited into the Coroner Trauma Fund to Illinois coroners and medical examiners; that no money may be distributed to a coroner or medical examiner located outside of the State; and that the distribution to individual coroners and medical examiners shall be based on the total number of trauma deaths where the manner of death is certified by the coroner, medical examiner, or coroner's inquest jury to be ACCIDENT, SUICIDE, HOMICIDE, or UNDETERMINED. Contains provisions concerning payment calculations under the fund, reporting requirements for county coroners or medical examiners, and distribution dates. Effective immediately.
