Great Lakes Water-Compact

Abstract

Creates the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact Act and authorizes the Governor to enter into the Compact. Provides that the Compact is an agreement between the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Provides that the Compact creates the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Council, which shall consist of the governors of the parties to the Compact ex officio. Sets forth the jurisdiction, organization, powers, and purposes of the Council. Sets forth the purposes of the Compact, including the protection and conservation of waters and water dependent resources and the promotion of interstate and state-provincial comity. Effective immediately.
