Highway Bridge Advertising

Abstract

Amends the Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971. Provides that signs advertising or displaying any material permitted by specified provisions of the Act may be incorporated into the concrete of highway bridges for purposes of advertising or providing information. Provides that the Department of Transportation of the State of Illinois shall only permit the sign if it is incorporated into the highway bridge using the concrete as a substrate. Provides that the sign shall not consist of a separate structure that is affixed to the highway bridge by mechanical means. Provides that the Department shall also require that any sign created under specified provisions is able to be removed from the concrete and that the concrete be able to be restored to its original condition. Effective July 1, 2008.
