Con Fraud-Directory Assistance

Abstract

Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that if a wireless telephone service provider makes directory assistance service available to its subscribers and imposes a fee or airtime charge for directory assistance inquiries, the wireless telephone service provider may not include, or permit to be included, any advertising message in the responses given to directory assistance inquiries. Provides that if a wireless telephone service provider makes directory assistance service available to its subscribers and includes, or permits to be included, any advertising message in the responses given to directory assistance inquiries, the wireless telephone service provider may not impose a fee or airtime charge for directory assistance inquiries. Makes a violation an unlawful practice within the meaning of the Act.
