Veh Cd-Motorized Scooters

Abstract

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person may not operate a motorized scooter on any roadway or sidewalk unless that operation has been authorized by a unit of local government or the Department of Transportation. Establishes procedures to be followed before and upon granting that authorization. Provides that motorized scooters are not motor driven cycles under the Code. Provides a person who operates a motorized scooter on a roadway while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicating compounds is subject to the DUI provisions of the Code. Effective immediately.
