Veh Cd-Negligent Driving

Abstract

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Creates the offense of negligent driving, committed when a person operates a motor vehicle carelessly or without exercising due care for the safety of others or in a manner that endangers any property or any person, including the driver or passengers of the vehicle. Provides that, in addition to any other penalty imposed, the person's driving privileges shall be suspended for a fixed period of not less than 90 days and not more than one year if a violation results in damage to property, for not less than 180 days and not more than 2 years if a violation results in injury to any person, and for 2 years if a violation results in the death of another person.
