Sch Stu Record-Juv Auth-Notify

Abstract

Amends the School Code and the Illinois School Student Records Act. For a student who is transferring to another school, provides that information regarding any probable cause notices, disposition orders, or court orders with regard to a student who has been detained for proceedings under the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 or for any criminal offense or violation of a municipal or county ordinance shall be forwarded along with the student's school records, with exceptions. Provides that school student record information released to juvenile authorities shall be limited to information that pertains to the use of a controlled substance, assault, threatening conduct, possession or use of weapons, possession of imitation weapons, theft, or property damage. Allows the parent or guardian to object to the release of this information. Provides that no cause of action or claim for relief, civil or criminal, may be maintained against any school, employee or official of a school, or person acting at the direction of a school for complying with a request for this information. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement.
