Child Abuse-Reporting-Penalty

Abstract

Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act and the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that a person is guilty of a Class 4 felony (instead of a Class A misdemeanor) if he or she knowingly transmits a false report of child abuse or neglect to DCFS or knowingly and willfully commits another violation of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act's mandated reporting provisions. Provides that a person is guilty of a Class 3 (instead of Class 4) felony for a second or subsequent violation. Effective immediately.
