Mental Health-Death Notice

Abstract

Amends the Substance Use Disorder Act and the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code. Provides that substance abuse programs and mental health or developmental disabilities facilities operating in the State shall provide verbal notice to the personal representative of the patient within 24 hours after the death of a patient and shall provide written notice to the personal representative of the patient within 5 days after the death of a patient. Effective immediately. Senate Committee Amendment No. 1 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with the following changes: Provides that the amendatory Act may be referred to as Jordan's Law. Provides that a mental health or developmental disabilities facility shall provide notice in accordance with the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act. Effective immediately. Senate Floor Amendment No. 3 Replaces everything after the enacting clause.
