Abstract

Amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the short title. House Floor Amendment No. 1 Deletes reference to: 20 ILCS 5/1-1 was 20 ILCS 5/1 Adds reference to: 20 ILCS 2105/2105-405 new Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Professional Regulation Law Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the clinical readiness program is established in the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to provide direct services to international medical graduates wishing to reestablish the graduates' medical careers and seek residency in this State. Provides that the program shall assist international medical graduates in building the skills necessary to become successful residents in the United States medical system, including, but not limited to, gaining clinical experiences and getting letters of recommendation. House Floor Amendment No. 2 Deletes reference to: 20 ILCS 5/1-1 Adds reference to: 225 ILCS 60/15.5 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Requires the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to establish, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health and the Governor's Office of New Americans, a clinical readiness program to provide direct services to international medical graduate physicians seeking to reestablish their medical careers and obtain residency in this State. Provides that the clinical readiness program for international medical graduate physicians shall be subject to appropriation. Provides that the clinical readiness program shall be implemented pursuant to a New American Plan developed by the Department in accordance with the Governor's Office of New Americans Act and administered by the licensing liaison for international applicants. Provides that the Department may, in its discretion, contract with a vendor or with another State agency, through an intergovernmental agreement, to assist in the implementation and administration of the program. Makes other changes.
