Clerks-Crime Victims-Reporting

Abstract

Amends the Clerks of Courts Act. Provides that records of judgments include the reporting of all felony convictions and pleas of guilty to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for licensure review. Amends the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act. Provides that a crime victim has the right to file a complaint against the offender with the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation if the offender is licensed by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. House Committee Amendment No. 1 In the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act, deletes reference to "under this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly" in provision that any law enforcement agency that investigates an offense committed in the State shall provide a crime victim with a written statement of the rights of crime victims within 48 hours of law enforcement's initial contact with a victim. House Floor Amendment No. 2 Deletes reference to: 705 ILCS 105/14 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act. Retains the changes made by House Amendment No. 1. Provides that the sign-off sheet provided by law enforcement that the crime victim signs and dates as an acknowledgement that he or she has been furnished with information and an explanation of the rights of crime victims and compensation set forth in the Act includes information that the crime victim has the ability to file a complaint against an individual who is licensed by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
