Professional Standards Commission; teacher education programs include mandatory coursework in ESOL; require

Abstract

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Part 10 of Article 17 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to professional standards for elementary and secondary school teachers and other school personnel, so as to require the Professional Standards Commission to recommend to the board of regents and to private colleges and universities that teacher education programs include mandatory coursework in instruction related to English language learners and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL); to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
