Workforce development: grocery industry.

Abstract

Existing law establishes the Department of Industrial Relations within the Labor and Workforce Development Agency and sets forth its powers, duties, and functions, including to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, to improve working conditions, and to advance opportunities for profitable employment. Existing law authorizes the California Apprenticeship Council and the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, in cooperation with specified state entities, including the agency, to foster and promote on-the-job training programs other than apprenticeship, in accord with, and agreed to by the parties to, any applicable collective bargaining agreements, as specified. This bill would require the agency to develop a labor-management training partnership to identify workforce training methods appropriate for the grocery industry.
