Existing law prohibits a candidate's name from being printed on a primary election ballot unless the candidate delivers, by the 88th day before the primary election, a declaration of candidacy and nomination papers signed by a specified number of voters to the elections official in the county for which the documents were circulated. Existing law requires a candidate to deliver the declaration of candidacy to the elections official of the candidate's county of residence and to deliver nomination papers to the elections official of the county in which the signer resides. This bill would require the Secretary of State to establish uniform filing forms for a candidate to use when filing a declaration of candidacy and nomination papers.
