Health care language assistance services.

Abstract

Existing law, the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975, provides for the licensure and regulation of health care service plans by the Department of Managed Health Care and makes a willful violation of the act a crime. Existing law requires the Department of Managed Health Care to adopt regulations establishing standards and requirements for health care service plans to provide enrollees with appropriate access to language assistance in obtaining health care services. Existing law requires the department to report biennially to, among others, the Legislature, regarding plan compliance with the standards. This bill would instead require the department to provide that report 3 times a year.
