Abstract

Existing law establishes in the Department of Justice a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Existing law requires the Governor to appoint members to the commission, 2 of whom are required to be members of the public who are not peace officers. This bill would require the President pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the Assembly to each appoint a member of the commission who is not a peace officer and who has demonstrated expertise in specified areas.
