Abstract

Existing law creates the Department of Insurance, headed by the Insurance Commissioner, and prescribes the commissioner's powers and duties. Existing law requires the commissioner to conduct or commission various studies and prepare various reports relating to the business of insurance. This bill would require the commissioner, on or before July 1, 2022, to complete a study on wildfire risk and insurance, including market-based approaches.
