Public health: emergency prescriptions.

Abstract

Existing law governs the practice of medicine and the issuance of prescription drugs. Existing law, the Emergency Medical Services System and the Prehospital Emergency Medical Care Personnel Act, states that it is the policy of the State of California to ensure the provision of effective and efficient emergency medical care. This bill would authorize a licensed physician to prescribe a one-month supply of a life-saving medication, as described, to a patient to be stored for the use of that patient in case of a natural disaster or other emergency.
