School facilities: schoolsites on military bases.

Abstract

Existing law establishes a system of public elementary and secondary schools in this state, and provides for the funding of the construction of new school facilities and the modernization of existing facilities. Existing law requires the State Allocation Board to apportion certain state funds to eligible school districts for school facilities. Existing federal law provides for construction funding assistance for schoolsites that are located on United States military bases and that meet specified criteria. This bill would require the State Allocation Board to give priority to applications for certain state funds for projects on or near military installations that are eligible for specified federal school construction grants.
