Community college employee: leaves of absence.

Abstract

Existing law authorizes an academic employee of a community college district to use earned leave of absence for illness or injury at his or her discretion in cases of personal necessity or compelling personal importance, as specified, not to exceed 6 days in a school year. Unless an exception applies, existing law authorizes probationary or permanent classified community college employees to use up to 7 earned leave of absence days for illness or injury in a school year in cases of personal necessity. This bill would authorize academic employees and probationary or permanent classified employees to use, in specified circumstances, up to 30 days of leave in a school year. The bill would provide that, if these provisions are in conflict with the terms of a collective bargaining agreement in effect before January 1, 2015, the provisions shall not apply to the public employer and public employees subject to that agreement until expiration or renewal of the agreement.
