Information Practices Act of 1977: disclosure of security breach.

Abstract

The Information Practices Act of 1977 provides for how an agency maintains and collects personal information. The act requires an agency that owns or licenses computerized data that includes personal information to disclose any breach of the security to any resident of California whose unencrypted personal information was, or is reasonably believed to have been, acquired by an unauthorized person. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.
