High school athletics: California High School Coaching Education and Training Program.

Abstract

Existing law states the intent of the Legislature to establish a California High School Coaching Education and Training Program, administered by school districts, that emphasizes specified components, including, among other things, training, which is described as certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid. This bill would include a basic understanding of the signs and symptoms of concussions and the appropriate response to concussions within the description of training. The bill would authorize concussion training to be fulfilled through entities offering free, online, or other types of training courses.
