SB 1195

  • California Senate Bill
  • 2009-2010 Regular Session
  • Introduced in Senate Feb 18, 2010

Sex offenders: punishment.

Abstract

Existing law provides punishments for sex crimes. This bill would change the punishment for various sex crimes from a determinate sentence to an indeterminate sentence with a life term, as specified. The bill would require the court to impose any applicable enhancements consecutive to the life term for these crimes. Because this bill would change the penalty for certain sex crimes, it would impose a state-mandated local program. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this act for a specified reason.
